Hello My Friend, We Meet Again: Creed Is Back

You read the headline correctly. Rock royalty and Grammy award-winning rock band Creed have announced the ‘Summer Of ‘99 Tour’ as of January 18th. However, they didn’t wait long before announcing a second leg to their reunion tour on February 6th, called the ‘Are You Ready? Tour’ A lot is to be said by making these announcements. Let’s take a look back to where it all began for Scott, Mark, Brian and Scott (”Flip” Phillips). Back in Tallahassee Florida these four guys embarked on what would alter the course of their entire lives in so many ways, by forming the band Creed. Little did they know the impact and they would have on an already thriving the rock scene. On the shoulders of giants themselves with the likes of Pearl Jam, Metallica, Soundgarden, U2, Slayer and many more, the band would step into the fray and never look back!

Selling over 50+ million records worldwide, Creed became a phenomenon across the United States and soon the globe with a sound that was unmistakable. Soaring guitar riffs, drumming so powerful it would make Neil Peart blush, bass lines that woven in throughout each and every song so perfectly and the voice of Stapp that everyone knows and loves, makes Creed an unstoppable tour de force. Creed would go on to stardom that would launch not only a career of diamond selling records and songs, but spawn a generation of fans that would go the distance side by side with the band.

Creed would have the perfect alchemy for bringing everything back to the fans and music lovers alike. The recipe has been carefully crafted and monitored by all involved as the lives of each band member all had purpose for their individual journeys leading to this point in time where the band can reunite in such a colossal way.

In many ways this tour is extremely personal for many including myself as I write this article. I grew up on Creed and rocking out in my middle school and high school days well into my now 30’s, pouring all my angst and emotions into every car trip and man-cave karaoke performances. Don’t judge me! Or do. I don’t care. Creed rocks so hard and always has.

I’m excited to see what Tremonti, Stapp, Marshall and Phillips can do this time around the sun, not just live but also on a potentially new Creed record. So many life lessons and experiences and maybe songs left by the wayside just needing to be revisited in a different period for the band can come to fruition. The possibilities of Creed returning are exciting in more ways than one. With that said, the band requires touring assistance. Fans can look no further than right here because as it happens to have been announced, 3 Doors Down, Mammoth WVH, Finger Eleven, Daughtry, Switchfoot, Big Wreck and Tonic!

Not to mention Creed’s intimate acoustic performance in Orlando Florida, May 2-3 with proceeds benefiting the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS), which holds a very special place in guitarist Mark Tremonti’s life. Tonic will also be joining the band for this special evening. How can you not respect and admire the fellas for putting on such a heartwarming show on for such a beautiful cause.
