Founding member of the famed band Blink 182, bassist Mark Hoppus announces Wednesday evening that he has indeed been battling cancer. The 49 year old took to his own Twitter page to announce the news. “It sucks and I’m scared, and at the same time I’m blessed with incredible doctors and family and friends to get me through this,” he wrote on his Instagram story and Twitter on Wednesday. “I still have months of treatment ahead of me but I’m trying to remain hopeful and positive. Can’t wait to be cancer free and see you all at a concert in the near future.”

Immediately support from all over the world began pouring in to show their support from every corner of the world that Hoppus has reached with his music. The music community also began to shower their thoughts of concern and well wishes for Hoppus. Including Tom Delonge who had this to say: “I too, have been aware of @markhoppus’s cancer diagnosis for a while now. And to add to his own words that he used today, I would also like to say that he is strong, and a superhuman who is pushing through this difficult obstacle with a wide-open heart. #WeHaveHisBack.”

To cite Mark Hoppus and offer his own words back to him this is our official statement here at Alive N’ Loud Magazine:

“don't listen to your head, it only fills you with dread and with doubt left looking for an easy way out, I know you don't know oh, no, you don't know, I wanna feel happy days, happy days, happy days, happy days.”

The staff here at Alive N’ Loud want to wish you happy days ahead and we can’t wait to see you kick cancer's ass! Always I know, we’ll be at your show!
